I’m extremely excited to be coming out to Connecticut to work with you all from July 7. Make sure you keep up to date with the coaching practices that we are doing here in our Academy in England via evertonway.com.

Remember that if you impress me during my visit, there is the opportunity for players to be invited over to the Everton Academy here in Liverpool so you can test yourselves with our Academy squads.

This is open to both boys and girls too as we have one of the best Girls programs in England. Keep working hard on your game and we look forward to seeing you all again very soon

The program teaches skills across three main areas of a player’s development:

Technical
5, 6 and 7 yr olds:            “The Age of Fun”
Fun soccer training and 3v3 games.  Players are prepared to join “The Everton Way”

8, 9 and 10 yr olds:          “The Age of Preparation”
Players master the basic skills and techniques of the game

11, 12 and 13 yr olds:      “The Age of Development”
Whilst carrying on technical and skill work the emphasis switches to problem solving.  At the end of this stage players will have an understanding of one or more positions in the 11 v 11 game

Physical:  
We live in the age of the super fit athlete and soccer players are no different.  The players will learn the importance of strength, speed, flexibility, agility and conditioning.

Mental:
Soccer at the highest level demands incredible mental strength.  From the youngest ages we focus on the key areas of goal setting, motivation, self-confidence, concentration and communication.  The development and acquisition of psychological skills enables youngsters to improve their performance and to fulfill their potential.

Lifestyle Issues:
Experience has taught us that many talented players fail to reach their potential due to lack of understanding of certain issues within their individual environment.  Players will be given guidance in areas such as diet and nutrition, alcohol, smoking, time management, gambling, bullying and many others.
